IsiYalo National Writers Guild started working
informally from 1983 and was formally launched on 28 August 1993. On the 27
August 2009 it was registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO). Its main
objectives were to develop, promote, protect and preserve isiNdebele as our one
and only Indigenous African Language. It is also committed in skilling mainly
the budding authors so that they can also be on the main stream list of
isiNdebele Language developers. Like in other languages they also develop all
isiNdebele genres, namely, Short Stories, Novels, Dramas, Poetry, Traditional
Literature, just to mention but a few. Not forgetting to mention that we have
also started promoting reading, book review, debate and spelling to all age
groups of people, i.e. from the in school and out of school youth both males
and females, as well as the interested adults. We are also working in
collaboration with the National Department of Arts and Culture, Department of
Arts and Culture, All the Institution of Higher Learning, etc.
